RAYMA SUPRANI

CASE STUDY

Role: Web Design & Development

Project Overview

The Rayma Suprani project was a unique and personal undertaking where I was tasked with developing a portfolio website for a highly acclaimed Venezuelan artist, cartoonist, and illustrator. The objective was to create a platform that would showcase her extensive collection of artwork, reflect her vibrant personality, and also serve as a professional gallery for commissions and collaborations. The website had to be visually captivating, interactive, and highly functional while staying true to her distinct style and voice as an individual artist.

My Role

As the sole Website Designer and Developer, my responsibilities encompassed the complete development lifecycle from initial consultations with Rayma to understand her vision, through to wireframing, design, coding, and post-launch support. My specific tasks included:
🖌️ Custom website design
🖌️ UI/UX design
🖌️ Integrating e-commerce functionality
🖌️ SEO and performance optimization

Goals

🖌️ Showcase Rayma's portfolio: Present her diverse body of work—political cartoons, illustrations, and fine art pieces in a compelling manner.
🖌️ Increase commissions: Create an interactive flow that allows potential clients to submit custom commission requests seamlessly.
🖌️ Sell art online: Integrate an e-commerce system for selling prints and digital downloads of her work.
🖌️ Attract international audiences: Expand her reach beyond her existing audience in Latin America and the U.S. by making the website multilingual and optimizing it for global visibility.

Challenges

🖌️ Displaying a large volume of high-quality artwork: Rayma's portfolio was massive, and we needed to ensure that each piece was displayed in high resolution without causing the website to slow down.
🖌️ Balancing aesthetics and functionality: The site needed to be visually expressive to match Rayma's artistic flair but also functional for potential clients, art buyers, and collaborators.
🖌️ Multilingual support: Given Rayma’s international audience, the site needed to support both Spanish and English, requiring a robust content management system (CMS) for easy language toggling.

Strategy & Execution

🖌️ Discovery and Conceptualization: I began by conducting in-depth consultations with Rayma to understand her personal brand, creative process, and long-term vision for the website. We worked together to develop a color palette that aligned with her signature style: bold, evocative, and often provocative.
🖌️ Wireframing and UX Design: With her vision in mind, I developed a series of wireframes that focused on user experience. The site map was simple yet effective.
🖌️ Custom Development and Design: Once Rayma approved the wireframes, I moved into the development phase. I chose a clean, minimalistic layout for the site, with a focus on large, full-screen images that would allow visitors to experience her art without distraction. Key features included a Portfolio section with a custom-built gallery, E-commerce integration, Multilingual support and a custom collaboration workflow.
🖌️ SEO and Speed Optimization: Given the high-quality imagery involved, speed optimization was crucial.
🖌️ Post-launch Support: After the successful launch of the site, I provided Rayma with training to manage the website independently. I also set up analytics tracking to monitor traffic, user engagement, and conversions.

Results

🖌️ The site saw a 53% increase in visitor retention.
🖌️ The bilingual feature, paired with SEO optimization, resulted in a 44% boost in international traffic.
🖌️ Improved E-commerce Sales: Within 6 months of launch, Rayma reported a 35% increase in print sales and commission requests.
🖌️ Positive Feedback: Rayma received overwhelmingly positive feedback from her community, praising the ease of use and the visually immersive experience of the site.

"Working with Rohit was a transformative experience. He truly understood my vision and brought it to life in ways I didn’t think were possible. My new website isn’t just a portfolio; it’s a full-fledged platform where I can connect with clients, sell my work, and share my thoughts. I couldn’t be happier with the results."
